LAO Li is a preeminent Chinese violinist in the US. The Yu Art Foundation has offered kind support in her music career, loaning the superb violin and bow to her during her performances nationwide, such as Stradivari violin ‘General Dupont’ and top-class Tourte bow.
Lao Li learned violin performance with Prof. Lin Yaoji from age 11, and studied in the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School in China. She gained bachelor’s degree from the College-Conservatory of Music of University of Cincinnati under the tutelage of Prof. Kurt Sassmannshaus and acquired master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music learning from Prof. Donald Weilerstein and Kim Kashkashian. Then she was enrolled into the Royal Conservatory of Music in Spain, following the violin educator Zahkar Bron.
Lao li has won numerous prizes internationally, such as the 1st prize of the Hudson Valley String Competition, the highest award of the Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation, the winner of the concerto competition in Cincinnati and the most excellent young player of the China International Violin Competition (Qingdao). As a soloist, she has worked with many renowned orchestras and has been invited to play in music festivals and performances worldwide. She has taught in New England Conservatory of Music, Royal Conservatory of Music in Spain and the Central Conservatory of Music in China and has held master classes worldwide.
