The International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, founded in 1992, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022. The Competition is the largest independent professional contest for young musicians. It is held in three sections: Piano, Violin and Cello. Throughout its 30-year history, the competition has been held in 6 countries and 9 cities for ten times. This time, 48 violinists from various countries participated in the Violin Section. After the fierce competition in the first two rounds, ten contestants made it to the final round, among whom three Chinese players received the first and second prizes.

The Competition’s first-prize winner Li Jinzhu from the Music Middle School Attached to Xinghai Conservatory of Music had also been granted loan of violin from YAF since 2021. During her loan period, she had gained first or second prizes at the ‘Làszlò Spezzaferri’, GSF Singapore Festival and Zhuhai Mozart Competition in 2022. Now, the Competition’s first-prize winner Qian Zhiyuan from the Music Middle School Affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the second-prize winner Wang Yaozhang has both received violins on long-term loan from YAF. We hope that the young talents will make steady progress and further breakthroughs in the future.
Congratulations to the excellent young Chinese musicians and their advisors!
